Immigration and emigration in Colombia
Colombia has currently about 48 million habitants APA (13) and over the years there has been a lot of flow of people that go in and out of the country, and move between the regions due to different factors.

One of the big conflicts the country of Colombia has faced over the years is the displacement of people that happens inside the country. This people that don't go to another country be because they love their own country or and mainly because, they don't have the means, suffer from a lot of negative things that compromise their lives. There is also emigration where people go to live outside the country, but the causes of this flow of people are not consider negative, having all the worse cases on the causes of emigration inside the country. The immigration in Colombia is an issue that nowadays with the political conflict of Venezuela is a very treated conflict, there is a positive and a negative position to this theme, but sometimes we forget that there is more to this county's immigration than just Venezuela thought that this has been the biggest wave of immigration in this country.

The immigration of Venezuelans to Colombia has been the biggest wave of migration that this country has ever faced, and its magnitude is bigger than the Colombian government assumes. As Colombians we know that this migration is seen more as a social issue than simple foreign people living in our country, now that there has been many complains about it. From my point of view, there is a positive side as well as there is a negative one, and I think a lot of people that just see the negative one are uninformed or ignorants that lack of an open mind.
Negative side
- On the economic area, there are many Venezuelans living on the streets therefor they are not contributing to the Colombian economy
- Over population
- Xenophobic actitudes from the citizens
- Is an other subject of the hundreds that already are that the government has to think and act about
- Generates deportation
- Security of the country like in the borders and on the streets has to be increased
Positive side
- Many people that own business or companies, come to Colombia with the hope they can continue to grow on their work or restart what they have been doing on Venezuela; this produces work opportunities, new productive unities, market diversification, sector competition and more taxes, that with this the government will have more economic income to uprise the quality of life of the citizens
- It generated knowledge of culture, an open mind and solidarity in Colombians
- It creates a experience for the government so they learn, or are supposed to learn, how to control big masses of immigrants
